Alfaisal University congratulates Prince Faisal bin Fahd bin Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, a student in the College of Law & International Relations, on successfully summiting Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak.
At 24 years of age, Prince Faisal reached the 8,849-metre summit on 27 May 2025 as part of the spring Everest climbing season. The ascent makes him one of the youngest Arab climbers to summit Mount Everest and marks the sixth completed peak in his Seven Summits challenge, leaving one mountain remaining to complete the challenge.
The climb was undertaken with Elite Expeditions expedition led by renowned mountaineer Nirmal Purja, with Pem Chhiri Sherpa serving as Prince Faisal’s personal climbing guide.
Following the successful ascent, Prince Faisal received his official Mount Everest summit certificate from Nepal’s Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Khadakraj Poudel, during a ceremony held at the ministry in Kathmandu. The certificate, issued by Nepal’s Department of Tourism, formally recognizes climbers who successfully summit Mount Everest and other mountains in Nepal.

The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Nepal, Fahad Mohammad A. Al Manikher, Director General of Nepal’s Department of Tourism Ramkrishna Lamichhane, and Member of Nepal’s House of Representatives Mingma David Sherpa, who also summited Mount Everest on the same day as Prince Faisal.
During his meeting with Minister Poudel, Prince Faisal expressed his appreciation for Nepal’s natural beauty, mountain environment, and the hospitality of its people.
