Delegates from Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and Japan Cooperation Center for the Middle East (JCCME) lead by Mr Shigeharu Satake (General Manager, Business Support Office, Japan-Saudi Arabia Industrial Cooperation Task Force, JCCME) and Mr Yasuyuki Murahashi  (JETRO Director General) visited the College of Business this week to meet with Dr Mario Ferrer and his Principles of Management and Human Resources Management students.

Both Mr Satake and Mr  Murahashi gave excellent presentations explaining the important role JETRO and JCCME play in conducting key cooperation activities such as promotion of investment to Saudi Arabia, policy building for Saudi small and medium-sized enterprises, and development of human resources. Four key business ventures are already succeeding in the kingdom. The business ventures include Isuzu Motors (trucks), Toyobo & Itochu (sweater desalination), Index Holdings (multimedia technology) and J-Power systems & Marubeni (sub sea power cable).  Mr Stake also presented detailed information about successful human resource development projects such as the Saudi Electronics & Home Appliances Institute (SEHAI), which has been implemented under the support of both government of Japan and Saudi Arabia. With the assistance of Japanese technical colleges and electronics & home appliance manufactures, JCCME provides educational materials and curriculum, and dispatches Japanese experts to SEHAI for three years from the opening of SEHAI.

JCCME and JETRO look forward to cooperating with the college of business and facilitate some case studies for our undergraduate and graduate students.
